Ryan T. Fitzgerald is an Associate Attorney (pending bar admission) at Berger Kahn’s Lake Forest office, where he is focusing his practice on labor and employment law and insurance coverage.
Ryan attended California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in History and a minor in Psychology. While completing his undergraduate studies, Ryan worked as a law clerk, gaining early exposure to the legal field.
Ryan graduated from the University at Buffalo School of Law in June 2025 with both a Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration. He was selected for the Buffalo Law Review based on his strong academic performance, later serving as Publications Editor, where he managed Bluebook citations and authored a comment on Bankruptcy Law’s Subchapter V. Ryan also served as Vice President of the UB Law and Business Association.
Before joining Berger Kahn, Ryan externed for the Superior Court of California, Los Angeles County, under Judge Frank M. Tavelman and Judge Shelley Torrealba, where he conducted legal research on both civil and criminal matters. Recognized for his commitment to public interest work, he was awarded the Kaplan & Reynolds Fellowship. As a rising 3L, Ryan worked as a Summer Associate at Lagerlof, LLP, supporting the Litigation, Tax, and Estate Planning departments. There, he gained valuable courtroom experience by attending trials, hearings, and depositions.
