On February 16, 2024, Berger Kahn attorneys Erin Ezra, Tyler Angelini, and Corbin Smith examined the benefits and risks of getting insured through non-admitted carriers in their article “Riding the Storm: Turning to Non-Admitted Insurers Amid Natural Disasters and Policy Perils.” While non-admitted carriers offer flexibility, they still come with a perception of added risk.  But requirements imposed by many states provide consumers with some assurance.  As homeowners insurance coverage through non-admitted insurers becomes more common, consumers may find the idea less daunting, backed by various legal and regulatory protections.
