Berger Kahn Judges at UC Irvine Mock Trial’s Anteater Tournament

On the weekend of November 7 and 8, 2020, Associates Nandita Nayyar and Jamie Rice and Partner Erin Ezra volunteered at UC Irvine’s first-ever virtual mock trial Anteater Tournament, in which 14 schools and over 20 teams competed — including Florida State, UC Los Angeles, and the University of Southern California.

Nandita, Jamie, and Erin virtually judged the performances of the teams on professionalism and the ability to present clear and persuasive arguments under pressure and changing circumstances. After months of preparation, students presented their impressive case theories and strategies to the judges. Nandita Nayyar and Erin Ezra judged Arizona State, which took third place at the tournament overall. Jamie Rice judged two character witnesses from Scripps College and Florida State, as well as two mock trial attorneys from Santa Clara and Florida State who all ranked as top performers at the closing ceremonies.

Berger Kahn has volunteered with UC Irvine’s mock trial team for the past two years and is looking forward to continuing to help aspiring attorneys sharpen their oral advocacy skills in the future.
