Claims Journal Magazine Features Berger Kahn Attorneys in 24-Hour Reporting Column “What You May Not Know About Uninsured Motorists Claims”

Berger Kahn shareholder David Ezra and attorney Erin Mindoro co-authored a claims-specific insurance law column on the 24-hour reporting requirement for hit-and-run accidents, alerting claims professionals to the different approaches states take with respect to the typical hit-and-run anti-fraud measures, and letting them know that what some might see as mere “technical” violations in California may eliminate coverage for a UM claim that would have to be honored in a state like Arizona. While many claims professional see the physical contact requirement as a solid prerequisite to coverage, the 24-hour reporting requirement is often perceived as a goal, more than a requirement.
