On Wednesday, July 29, Erin Ezra attended the OCBF Higher Education Mentoring Program and Project SELF virtual scholarship ceremony.
The Higher Education Mentoring Program provides low-income students from Santa Ana with the necessary academic and financial support to succeed in college. Each student is paired with a college student or young professional to assist him or her in overcoming academic barriers. Similarly, interns with Project SELF (Summer Employment in Law Firms) are provided opportunities to receive first-hand, paid experience in local law firms and businesses.
At the online event, keynote speaker Dr. Angelica Loera Suarez honored the programs’ students and interns for their academic achievements. Project Youth board members, including Berger Kahn Partner Erin Ezra, went through numerous applications of high-achieving students from the Higher Education Mentoring Program in order to hand-pick the recipient of this year’s scholarship awards. Among other scholarship awards, graduating high school senior Natalie Flores was awarded the Associate Board-Women Scholarship. Berger Kahn congratulates Natalie on her achievements so far and wishes her the best of luck on her promising future at UCLA this coming fall!
