On the weekend of January 9, 2022, Berger Kahn attorneys Erin Ezra, Jamie Rice, and Nandita “Nan” Nayyar volunteered as judges at the University of California, Irvine’s 2022 virtual Beach Party Tournament.

The elite competition featured some of the top collegiate mock trial teams in the country — including top three winning teams Northwestern University, Stanford, and UCLA.

Berger Kahn actively volunteers with UCI Mock Trial, attending numerous competitions, although at this year’s Beach Party tournament, attorney Jamie Rice served as a presiding judge for the first time. Jamie and Erin were placed in the same rounds and had the opportunity to judge the UCLA winning team. Nan judged UC Santa Barbara and honorable mention UC Berkeley and was impressed by their exceptional use of demonstrative evidence.
